My Favourite Cupcake Tips

Happy Saturday everyone 🙂 I’m sharing with you another one of my guides, after the success of my previous ones, bread making tips and how to cream butter and sugar, I knew I had to share another one, this time we’re going to be talking about cupcakes!

Delicious, fun and practical cupcakes 🙂  I love making cupcakes 😍😋I’ve made sooo many in my time, already shared loads of recipes too and I’ve got even more coming! In fact, I’m going to be doing a cupcake week this week, sharing a few of my most popular and favourite cupcake recipes 😉

Many people enjoy making, and eating! 😉 cupcakes. There are so many variations you can do with just one recipe or one cupcake.
I’ve learned a few things about making great cupcakes each and every time. Here are a few of my favourite tricks:

  • Ingredients knowing your ingredients and what your going to put in your cupcakes. Quality of ingredients is the most important. In almost all of my cupcake recipes, I use any local product for things like flour, milk and eggs. But when it comes to butter, baking soda and vanilla splurging a bit really does make a difference. I always use good quality brands for those.
  • Batter the cupcake batter is what makes or breaks a cupcake. Using the correct techniques, making sure not to over whisk are key to a good cupcake. Knowing whether your batter should be thick or thin is super important. When a recipe produces a thin batter, the cupcake will be very soft and velvety whereas when a batter produces a thicker batter, the cupcakes will turn out fluffy. Your batter should never be too thick . A good way to check this is too scoop up some batter with a spoon, holding it down. The batter should stay on for a few seconds before falling off. If it doesn’t then it’s probably too thick, fix this by adding 1 – 2 tablespoons milk or water.
  • Never overfill your cupcake cups. This is cruicial to prevent over flowing and sinking of cupcakes. If you add too much batter than your cupcakes will rise too much, sometimes spilling over the edges and once out of the oven, collapse and sink in the middle. A good rule of thumb to remember is never to fill more than 2/3 of the cupcake cup.
  • Don’t overbake the cupcakes. I don’t always follow the baking times stated in a recipe because all ovens are different and I know how mine works. You should try and bake your cupcakes just until a few moist crumbs, no wet batter, come out when poked with a toothpick or knife. Set your timers at 15 minutes and don’t open the oven door before this time. Once this time has passed, you can check your cupcakes every few minutes or so until they’re done.
  • Cool on a wire rack. This is important to ensure your cupcakes don’t get soggy while cooling. Leave them in the baking tray until they’re cool enough to remove and place on a wire rack. Always frost cupcakes once they’re completely cooled.
  • Remedies: If your cupcakes are too dense and you’re worried they may be dry, let them cool slightly but before they’ve cooled all the way, place in an air tight container and let them cool completely inside. This traps in any moisture making the cupcakes softer.
  •  Always remember, no matter what happens to your cupcakes, frosting hides all errors 😂:)👍

Dressing up cupcakes is so much fun isn’t it :):)

Remember to always have fun!! 😉
